A leading consultancy client of ours are currently looking to appoint a Senior Civil Engineer to support their Gas Business. Whilst you can work in any of their UK offices, home working is very much an option

What you’ll be doing:

Delivering Civil Engineering Design work for UK onshore gas industry clients, including National Grid Gas and the Gas Distribution networks.

This could include:

  • Producing calculations and designs for bases, plinths and supporting structures on Gas Above Ground Installations (AGI’s)
  • Supporting pipeline design across all pressure tiers, including special crossings.
  • Undertaking structural surveys of existing assets on gas networks and reporting condition.
  • Delivering as part of a multi-discipline team on gas projects.
  • Supporting the business in development of Junior Staff.
  • Coordinating design works, supporting the project manager in successful delivery and client liaison.
  • Technical support to main works contractors during construction.

What we’re looking for:

  • A Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering and at least 3 years’ experience of working in the UK onshore gas industry for National Grid and the gas distribution networks.
  • Ideally a Chartered Engineer with a recognised institution, or able to demonstrate you are actively working towards achieving this.
  • Good knowledge of UK Gas Industry standards and specifications, including IGEM standards and Gas network specifications, such as T/SP/CE suite of documents.
  • Knowledge of Design Approval and Appraisal process as specified in IGEM/GL/5 and gas industry supporting processes (G/35, G/17, PS/5 etc.)
  • Experience gained in a related industry may be considered if this can be demonstrated as being comparable.
