Working with an employee owned, engineering consultancy whose values of teamwork, client focus, integrity, and quality are important to them, they seek a Structural Engineer who shares their approach and would like to be more involved in the recreation of community spaces. Someone who enjoys a challenge and can think creatively about how we can save buildings with innovative design and repair strategies would thrive in this role.

You would be joining a busy, friendly 20-strong office in Bristol, with a wide range of interesting projects which include major public buildings, historic structures, new industrial facilities, health and education buildings, cultural and commercial buildings.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Managing projects under minimal supervision including liaison with the client and other members of the project team
  • Design, supervision and site-based management of site investigations including costing and procuring
  • Directing engineers in the development of technical reports and reviewing (Phase I Preliminary Risk Assessment, Phase 2 Ground Investigations, Remediation Options Appraisals and Verification & Validation)
  • Producing and reviewing contamination assessments and geotechnical design input, primarily to built environment projects
  • Providing technical support, training and monitoring to Graduates as part of their ongoing development
  • Attending internal and external design and project team meetings (reporting on progress, technical issues, resourcing etc)

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Earth or Environmental Sciences, or other relevant subject
  • MSc in Environmental Science, Geo-technical Engineering, Engineering Geology or other relevant subject
  • Work experience in a similar geo-environmental consultancy, preferably in the built environment
  • Contaminated land and/or geotechnical focus, with experience in managing site investigation works
  • Highly numerate, with ability to understand and manage large datasets
  • Capability of producing written reports to highest standard, presenting technical information clearly and concisely
  • Valid driving licence
